VISTA Table Talks Mini Series, Episode #2 - Dreams Bigger Than a Wall: A Glimpse Into A Mexican-American Sports Upbringing

The VISTA Table Talks Mini Series is a three part virtual series featuring VISTA members from the Up2Us Summer VISTA Program. Each part will showcase different summer VISTAs and their experiences as brand founders, DACA recipients from immigrant families and women leaders in sports. The goal of the Summer VISTA program is to provide organizations with short term capacity building AmeriCorps members to support organizations' mission to alleviate poverty over a nine week summer term.

In the second part of our mini series, we’re joined by Jose Galindo Torres, an Up2Us Sports Summer VISTA at Uptown Soccer. Jose discusses his experience identifying as Mexican, an athlete, a performer and a DACA recipient. To lead this conversation, we're joined by Erika Olivera-Gutierrez, an Up2Us Summer Cohort Leader, who is daughter of immigrant parents and an avid soccer player.

The episode will air live on the Up2Us VISTA IGTV Channel on Wednesday, August 25th at 12pm ET. It will also stream on the Up2Us Sports Spotify channel.
