She Changes the Game®
She Changes the Game® is an initiative of Up2Us Sports focused on increasing opportunities for women to coach, building the capacity of girls’ sports programs, and leveling the playing field for girls.
Up2Us Sports has registered She Changes the Game® with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), trademark registration number 6821524.
Our Approach
Up2Us Sports is committed to getting more women coaching youth sports because when a girl has a woman as a coach, she is more likely to stay involved in her sports program.
She Changes the Game® has three main pillars of impact: Awareness, Development, and Opportunity.
Our Awareness pillar is rooted in advocacy and information-sharing. We support our partners with best practices of recruiting women coaches and work to highlight the impact that women coaches make in sports.
To us, Development is the key to a future of diversity, equity, inclusion and access. Through trainings like the Keep Girls in Sport Digital Curriculum and our new She Changes the Game® Coach Development Program, we’re doing our part to make sure women feel empowered stepping into the male-dominated field of coaching.
Above all, we want to give more women the Opportunity to coach. We leverage our Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps Coach and VISTA programs to partner with organizations who want to close the gender gap in coaching.
She Changes the Game® Coach Development Program
The She Changes the Game® Coach Development Program was launched in 2023 for girls entering their junior or senior year of high school. The program is intended to strengthen girls’ technical coaching skills and leadership through engaging trainings throughout the school year. From training in sports-based youth development coaching techniques to the gender equity in sports movement, this program aims to empower girls to step confidently into the male-dominated field of coaching.
The She Changes the Game® Coach Development Program is currently running in Philadelphia, PA thanks to generous support from the Philadelphia Foundation and in Los Angeles, CA thanks to generous support from the LA84 Foundation.
To learn more about the Coach Development Program, please contact our Training Manager, Alannah Scardino, at ascardino@up2ussports.org.
