Up2Us Sports is pleased to present a new research study published in the Journal of Nutrients. Up2Us Sports commissioned Themes in Train-the-Trainer Nutrition Education Interventions Targeting Middle School Students: A Systematic Review in partnership with the George Washington University Milken Institute of Public Health and with funding support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Youth Engagement in Sports Initiative.
The study dives deep into the academic literature to compare and contrast different designs of nutrition education programs targeting youth in historically marginalized community settings. Through this in-depth look of thousands of programs, we gather themes in training approaches, content, and delivery models. These results are ultimately used to inform the design of an Up2Us Sports train-the-trainer nutrition education module embedded within the broader Up2Us Sports Sports-Based Youth Development curriculum.
In July 2021, we also hosted a Lunch and Learn with Christine St. Pierre and Natasha Cruz, who shared more about the research. Watch the episode below or on our YouTube Channel.
