While February is officially Black History Month, Up2Us Sports honors and celebrates Black voices all year long. Black History Month is an opportunity to pay special tribute to their voices and stories. We asked our coaches to share their thoughts on what Black History Month means to them and why representation in coaching matters.
A Conversation on Girls
Girls and women have always had to fight for the space they take up and the space they hold. This holds especially true for girls and women in sports. It wasn’t until 1972 that girls were given the right to equal access to sports with the passing of Title IX. Since then, we’ve seen female athletes own their power, strength, skill and abilities to rise to the top, even with endless barriers set in their way.

In honor of International Day of the Girl, Up2Us Sports hosted a two-day symposium to celebrate trailblazing women in the sports industry. Attendees heard directly from professional athletes, coaches and women executives in the sports field who are paving the way for the next generation of women leaders in sports.
