On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, the Up2Us Career Readiness team joined the University of Maryland School of Public Health to host an information session on their online Masters of Public Health Program.
Joining the session from UMD were the Department of Kinesiology's Dr. Shannon Jette (Graduate Director) and Andrea Liberto (Graduate Coordinator). Up2Us Sports’ own Training Manager Samantha Griffin - an alum of the program - also joined to share her experiences in the program and how it prepared her for the next step in her professional career.
This is the first session of its kind from Up2Us Career Readiness, and covered various questions and details related to the fully online Masters in Public Health with a Physical Activity focus. Topics included:
The course has a focus on how physical activity is connected to societal structures, community organizations and creating health equity
Credit and capstone project breakdown
Full-time, part-time and non-degree seeking pathways
How to apply, what is included (statement of purpose, letters of reference, committee review), deadlines
How to access application waivers available to Up2Us Sports service members
