In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday, we are proud to partner with AmeriCorps on their annual MLK Day of Service by sitting down with Odessa Jenkins, Up2Us Sports Ambassador, CEO of the WNFC and President of Emtrain, to talk about sports and the fight for equity.
DR. AHADA MCCUMMINGS
Ahada is the Senior National Director, External Affairs & Organizational Learning at Up2Us Sports. With more than 20 years of experience, Ahada has served as counselor, consultant and coach to individuals, teams and organizations in the areas of mental wellness, human performance improvement, program/curriculum development, organizational learning and leadership development. Her expertise has been applied in a variety of industries such as the mental/behavioral health field, intercollegiate sports, youth sports, and secondary/post secondary education. Ahada has been certified as a National Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors, licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor by the NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, and certified as a Certified Mental Trainer with Mental Training, Inc. Ahada Is also a High School State Championship Volleyball Coach (2020-2021 NCHSAA 1A Championship) and the owner and coach of a youth volleyball organization.
ODESSA JENKINS
Odessa Jenkins is the Founder and CEO of the Women's National Football Conference, and the President of Emtrain. A sought-after national speaker, Jenkins is also the Founder of multiple nonprofits (Got Her Back, Elite Women's Football Alliance of Dallas). She was an inaugural participant in the NFL's first Women's Career in Football Forum. Featured on Sports Illustrated, Fox 4, CBS, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, The Undefeated, and more, Jenkins globally recognized as a leader in Women's Tackle Football, and was listed as one of the top 100 most powerful, influential women in sports (SI Unrelenting Issue). She is a market leader in relationship management with multiple years of Executive leadership in private funded start-ups, joint ventures, and fortune 100 public companies. Jenkins has 15+ years of coaching and playing experience, is a Hall of Fame Running Back, a 2X National Champion and a USA Football Team captain, and a 2-time Gold Medalist. She has served as an Up2Us Sports Ambassador since November 2020.
