Together, we are AmeriCorps
Every March, we celebrate AmeriCorps Week. This year we’re celebrating March 13-19.
During AmeriCorps Week we recognize the commitment of the millions of Americans who have chosen to serve their country through AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors, and encourage more Americans to follow in their footsteps of service.
We are thankful for all the hard work by so many and are confident national service is ready to meet the moment and continue to help make an impact.
At Up2Us Sports, we are AmeriCorps. They’ve been by our side since the very beginning supporting over 4,000 service members since we started in 2010. AmeriCorps supports Up2Us Sports service members like Keith, who has spent the past three years working with young people at Beat the Streets New England, coaching wrestling but also prioritizing life lessons to ensure these youth are able to succeed in life.
AmeriCorps supports Up2Us Sports service members like Rebecca, whose commitment to serving her community for two terms as an AmeriCorps VISTA has led to her full-time employment at the Boys and Girls Club of Martin County, where she can continue to give back her time, energy and passion to her community.
Finally, AmeriCorps supports young people like Molly, who struggled with body image but found her confidence and her voice after finding a safe and loving team at Oakland Lacrosse Club, an Up2Us Sports partner organization that hosts Up2Us Sports coaches trained in sports-based youth development.
Keith, Rebecca and Molly are only a few reasons we are so proud to celebrate AmeriCorps Week, and the commitment that AmeriCorps has in bettering this country. We hope you join us this week.
Looking for a way to participate?
1. Share AmeriCorps’ impact. Through op-eds, letters to the editor, or other communications channels, highlight the impact of the work these members do in your community.
2. Spread the word about AmeriCorps. Up2Us Sports has AmeriCorps opportunities to fill. Share videos, photos, and posts on social media about AmeriCorps or your own experience throughout the week to help encourage the next generation of AmeriCorps members. You also can share your story on americorps.gov.
3. Join us on Day of the A. Don your best gear, very large pin, baseball cap, stickers, take a photo, and share it on your personal social media channels on Thursday, March 17 in honor of the Day of the A. AmeriCorps alumni are invited to share pictures / videos from their service.
Make sure you stay up to date and follow along on AmeriCorps’ Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for the latest on AmeriCorps Week.
This AmeriCorps Week, join us as we celebrate the impact of our programs and offer our thanks to members and volunteers for making an impact and serving others. Together, we can help the country recover and come back stronger. Together, we persevere.
Together, we are AmeriCorps.
