Up2Us Sports Training Advances in 2016

2015 was the biggest year yet for Up2Us Sports training, with over 2,000 coaches nationwide participating in our innovative Sports-Based Youth Development Coach Certification. With six 4-day Coach Training Institutes, twelve one-day refresher training sessions, and 20 single and multi-day workshops customized for organizations, our National Training Team worked to ensure that all youth sport coaches have access to high-quality professional development. 2015 also marked the first year of our full-time trainers in the Mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC) and South Florida (Miami and Tampa) markets; these Up2Us Sports staff members invest all of their time supporting our Coach Across America coaches, facilitating training sessions, and building new local partnerships.

We're aiming to build on our success in 2015 with lots of new initiatives and training content this year! Two major highlights include our new Building Healthy Competition one-day training module, a strategy-focused and research-based exploration of high stakes sport environments and how coaches can best leverage them for skill building, both on the field and off. We'll be rolling this out in 12 cities before the summer. We will also be hosting our first ever Advanced Institute, designed specifically for coaches who have attended our Coach Training Institute. This two-day workshop will dive more deeply into trauma-sensitive coaching and behavior management. We are also proud to be hosting our Coach Training Institute in Chicago for the fourth year in a row this coming weekend, February 27 through March 1. This winter event brings together Coach Across America coaches from across the country and engages the strong Chicago SBYD network as well.

Up2Us Sports is consistently working to expand our professional development offerings and make it easier for organizations of all types and sizes to access our training. We are excited to announce that we are officially a New York City Department of Education Vendor - schools and other educational organizations in New York can now access our offerings through their existing vendor portal. Know a NYC-based program that might benefit from our training? Contact Ben Schornack for more information!
